We aren’t at school anymore. The idea that we have to get out of bed when our Mum tells us, in our school uniform and in front of a teacher by 08:35 is a distant memory for most of us.
Most people entered a trade like ours, or indeed plan to, because they don’t enjoy or didn’t gel with the formal education system. But modern, adult training in our industry doesn’t have to be like that. With us it isn’t.
Our courses are designed to be easy to digest, fun, engaging and most of all grown up. There aren’t stressful exams. We don’t sit there in silence; it is actively encouraged that people talk to the trainer and between themselves. Anecdotes are welcome! The are short when possible, with plenty of breaks for coffee and discussion so everything is digested and ideas can be shared.
We have a goal. That goal is to make people in our industry not only want to be better, but to want to train with us so we can all become the best version of ourselves together. Continual professional development is beneficial in every industry, but in ours the opportunities are few and far between. Now that changes. Something new is here. The same old ideas need to stay in the past. We just hope other organisations follow and decide to move forward with us.
